NBC Finishes #2 for the Night in 18-49 and Within 1 Share of #1 in Week Three for Its Tuesday Lineup
NBC spins the numbers for Tuesday, September 25.

[via press release from NBC]

Tuesday Results:

· NBC finished #2 for the night in 18-49 and within 1 share of #1 in week three for its Tuesday lineup versus season premieres on ABC, CBS and Fox. Despite that competition, NBC's lineup finished within 13 percent of last week's Tuesday average (2.7 for the night vs. last week's 3.1)

· From 8-9 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.0/12 in 18-49, 11.3 million viewers overall) is currently running within 0.1 of a point of #1 in the time period and for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox and pulls ahead in its second half-hour from 8:30-9 p.m. (with a 4.4 rating that half-hour vs. a 4.2 for CBS's "NCIS"), with the top-rated half-hour of the night on those networks. Despite the arrival of competition this week from the season premieres of CBS's "NCIS," Fox's "The New Girl" and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" Results Show, "The Voice" is currently running within 15 percent of last week's 4.7 rating in official nationals (which was a 4.5 in these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings - note that the last two "Voices" have grown by 0.2 in official nationals). "The Voice" is up 21 percent versus last season's third Tuesday telecast (with a 4.0 rating vs. a 3.3 for a Results Show from 9-10 p.m. on April 17) and up 27 percent in total viewers (11.254 million vs. 8.859 million). "The Voice" is up 100 percent versus NBC's average in the time period last season in 18-49 rating (4.0 vs. 2.0) and up 84 percent in total viewers (11.254 million vs. 6.116 million).

· From its first half-hour to its second, "The Voice" grew by 0.7 of a point or 19 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 4.4 from a 3.7) and by 14 percent or 1.5 million person in total viewers (12.0 million vs. 10.5 million), to rank #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox from 8:30-9 in 18-49 with the top-rated half-hour of the night on those networks.

· At 9 p.m. ET, the third regular telecast of "Go On" (2.7/7 in 18-49, 7.3 million in total viewers) is currently tied for #2 in the competitive time period in adults 18-49, matching Fox's season premiere of "The New Girl" and ahead of ABC's season premiere of the "Dancing With the Stars" Results Show (2.3/6 that half-hour). Despite the arrival this week of competition from the regular-slot premiere of Fox's "The New Girl" and season debuts of CBS's "NCIS: LA" and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" Results Show, "Go On" is up 13 percent versus NBC's average in the time period last season in 18-49 rating (2.7 vs. 2.4).

· At 9:30 p.m. ET, "The New Normal" (2.0/5 in 18-49, 5.2 in total viewers) is currently retaining 74 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "Go On," up from last week's 65 percent (pending updates). Despite the arrival this week of competition from the series debut of Fox's "The Mindy Project" and season premieres of CBS's "NCIS: LA" and ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" Results Show, "The New Normal" retained 91 percent of last week's 18-49 rating (2.0 vs. 2.2).

· At 10 p.m. ET, "Parenthood" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 4.8 million in total viewers) retained 100 percent of last week's 18-49 rating, despite the arrival last night of competition from the series premieres of CBS's "Vegas" and the season debut of ABC's "Private Practice." "Parenthood" is up 6 percent in 18-49 versus its last four telecasts of last season (1.8 vs. 1.7). This week's "Parenthood" was #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-34 and women 18-34.

· Keep in mind that last season, "Parenthood" originals added an average of 47 percent to these next-day "live plus same day" ratings in 18-49 when Nielsen reported "live plus seven day" results.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday night:

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.8/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 3.1/8; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 3.2/8; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.7/5.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.7/3; "Nightline," 1.0/4; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

NOTE: All ratings are "live plus same day" from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise indicated.
