"Go On" Maintains Its Rating of the Prior Two Weeks, Despite Special Competition from FOX's "American Idol"
NBC spins the numbers for Tuesday, March 5.

[via press release from NBC]

Tuesday Results:

* At 9 p.m. ET, "Go On" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall) maintained its rating of the prior two weeks, despite last night's special competition from Fox's "American Idol." "Go On" maintained 100 percent of its 18-49 lead-in and built on that lead-in by 7 percent in adults 25-54 (to a 1.5 from a 1.4) and 13 percent in women 25-54 (1.7 vs. 1.5).

* At 9:30 p.m. ET, "The New Normal" (0.9/2 in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall) finished within a tenth of a point of the prior week's 18-49 rating despite last night's special "American Idol" competition. Last night's "New Normal" retained 82 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from "Go On," and maintained 100 percent of that lead-in in adults 18-34 (0.7 rating each).

* From 10-11 p.m. ET, "Smash" averaged a 0.7/2 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall. Note that "Smash" continues to add an exceptional amount of viewership via time-shifting, with last week's 18-49 rating growing by 66% or 0.6 of a point going from these next-day "live plus same day" ratings to "live plus three day" results (to a 1.51 from a 0.91). In that slot, last week's "Golden Boy" went up 19% from L+SD to L+3 (to a 2.16 from a 1.81, 0.35 of a point) and "Body of Proof" grew by 41% (1.71 vs. 1.21, 0.5 of a point).

* "Smash" is also currently the most upscale drama on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox so far this season in its concentration of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes, with an index of 161 in "most current" results that include "live plus three day" time-shifting (100 represents an average concentration of those homes), up from a 150 index last season.

* At 8 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers overall, and at 8:30, an original telecast of "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" delivered a 1.1/3 in 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers overall, in a highly competitive time period versus Fox's special Tuesday "American Idol," CBS's "NCIS" and ABC's "Celebrity Wife Swap."
