TBS Continues Its Winning Ways as Basic Cable's #1 Network Among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 in Primetime

TBS continued its winning ways last week with another win as basic cable's #1 network among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 in primetime.

TBS's hit sitcom Men at Work scored strong growth last week with the third episode of its second season. Thursday's show drew 2.1 million viewers in Live + 3, a +5% boost over the prior week. The episode also garnered 1.4 million adults 18-49 (+12% over the prior week) and 879,000 adults 18-34 (+34%).

Men at Work combined with TBS's telecasts of The Big Bang Theory last week to account for 19 of basic cable's Top 20 sitcom telecasts with adults 18-49 and 16 of the Top 20 with adults 18-34.

TBS's new hidden-camera comedy Who Gets the Last Laugh? launched last Tuesday night and has so far delivered 1.6 million viewers in Live + 3, with 1.0 million adults 18-49 and 565,000 adults 18-34.

TNT

Driven in part by its opening coverage of the 2013 NBA Playoffs, TNT scored a victory last week as basic cable's #1 network in primetime delivery of adults 25-54.

The NBA on TNT's tripleheader start of the 2013 NBA Playoffs on Sunday, April 21, delivered an average of 3,790,000 total viewers, up 9% (vs. 3,470,000 in 2012) and a 2.4 U.S HH rating, up 4% (vs. 2.3 in 2012).

TNT's hit drama Dallas closed out its second season with back-to-back episodes last Monday, the latter of which earned the show's highest Live+3 demo deliveries of the year, including 1.9 million adults 25-54 and 1.5 million adults 18-49. The combined average for the two episodes grew significantly over the prior week, with an audience of 3.8 million viewers (+26%), 1.8 million adults 25-54 (+38%) and 1.4 million adults 18-49 (+24%).

Wednesday night's fifth season finale of the acclaimed cop drama Southland also produced its best Live + 3 deliveries of the season. The episode scored 2.6 million viewers (+16% over the prior week), 1.4 million adults 25-54 (+38%) and 1.2 million adults 18-49 (+22%). Leading into it, the season finale of Boston's Finest scored exceptional growth over the previous week, averaging more than 1 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery (+29%); 662,000 adults 25-54 (+59%); and 636,000 adults 18-49 (+50%).

Adult Swim

Adult Swim's weekly Total Day performance ranked #1 on basic cable among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34, & 18-49. Compared to the same week in 2012, average Total Day delivery grew with adults 18-24 by 26%, adults 18-34 by 11%, adults 18-49 by 8%, men 18-24 by 31%, men 18-34 by 14% and men 18-49 by 10%.

In Prime Time (Broadcast definition), Adult Swim ranked #2 for the week among basic cable networks for delivery of adults 18-34. Versus the same week in 2012, average Prime delivery increased by double-digit growth among all targeted adults and men - adults 18-34 by 19%, adults 18-24 by 35%, adults 18-49 by 15%, men 18-24 by 64%, men 18-34 by 37% and men 18-49 by 27%.

The original series premiere of Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell (Thursday, 12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among all adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24 and 18-34.

A premiere episode of original series Loiter Squad (Sunday, 12 a.m.) grew by impressive double digits across these same demos vs. the same time period last year. Delivery of adults 18-34 improved by 53%, adults 18-24 by 62%, adults 18-49 by 43%, men 18-34 by 36%, men 18-24 by 31% and men 18-49 by 34%.

Saturday's Toonami block premiere episodes of Bleach (12 a.m.), Naruto (12:30 a.m.), Soul Eater (1 a.m.) and Tenchi Muyo! (3 a.m.) each charted double-digit increases across the board - ranging between 12% and 210% - vs. the same time period last year.

Adult Swim programming - including Family Guy, Robot Chicken and American Dad - accounted for 17 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable for the week with adults 18-34 and 23 of the top 50 telecasts with men 18-34, both more than any other network.

Cartoon Network

Across the third week of April 2013, Cartoon Network ranked as television's #1 network for Early Prime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 9-14.

Cartoon Network was the #1 television destination for all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 among all TV on Monday and Thursday Night (7-9p), #1 for boys 6-11 & 9-14 on Wednesday Night (7-9p), and #1 with boys 9-14 on Friday and Saturday Night.

Original animated series Adventure Time's Monday 7:30 p.m. premiere episode scored as the #1 telecast of the week among boys 9-14, and #1 for the day among boys 2-11 & 9-14. Immediately following, original animated series Regular Show (8 p.m.) was the #1 telecast of the week and day among boys 6-11. All three Monday night premieres, including MAD at (8:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in their respective time periods among all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14.

Saturday morning premiere episodes of Beyblade: Metal Fury (8 a.m.) and Pokémon BW: Adventures in Unova (8:30 a.m.) both ranked #1 in their respective time periods among boys 9-14.

truTV

truTV hit series Lizard Lick Towing (Monday at 10 p.m.) hitched up more than 1.8 million viewers last week, including 913,000 adults 18-49 and half a million men 18-49. The show ranked among cable's Top 5 entertainment programs in the timeslot with men 18-49. With one episode to go this season, Lizard Lick Towing has averaged an exceptional 2.8 million viewers in Live + 7, with 1.6 million adults 18-49 and 859,000 men 18-49.

truTV's smash hit Hardcore Pawn (Tuesday at 9 p.m.) continues to perform strongly in its seventh season, with last week's episode bringing in 2.1 million viewers and scoring a Top 5 ranking in the timeslot among cable entertainment programs in delivery of adults 18-49 (1.0 million) and men 18-49 (513,000). That sparked truTV to a Top 10 ranking for the night with total viewers and key demos. For the season, Hardcore Pawn is outperforming season 6 by double-digit percentages, with a Live + 7 average of 3.6 million viewers (+18%), 1.9 million adults 18-49 (+27%) and 1.0 million men 18-49 (+19%).
