TNT has won the title as basic cable's #1 network in primetime among key adult demos for Q2 2013. TNT also ranked as basic cable's #1 network in primetime with adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 for the month of June. In addition, TNT and TBS ranked #1 and #2 among adults 18-49 in primetime for the quarter and the month.
TNT has gotten its summer lineup off to an excellent start, with Rizzoli & Isles ranking as basic cable's #1 series for the summer-to-date in total viewers, while Falling Skies is the #1 scripted series with adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. Also performing extremely well, Major Crimes ranks second behind Rizzoli & Isles among scripted series with total viewers, with Perception ranking among the Top 10.
Last Tuesday night's season premiere of the blockbuster TNT drama Rizzoli & Isles has climbed to an exceptional 8.7 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, +19% ahead of last year's season launch. Among key demos, Rizzoli & Isles' season premiere has grown to 3 million adults 25-54 (+12% vs. season 3 premiere) and 2.4 million adults 18-49 (+9%). The episode ranks as basic cable's #1 series telecast for the summer-to-date with total viewers and adults 25-54.
Perception has grown to more than 5.4 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery for last week's June 25 season premiere. In the demos, the episode has averaged 1.8 million adults 25-54 and 1.4 million adults 18-49.
Major Crimes grew its June 10 season premiere audience to more than 6.9 million viewers in Live + 7, including 2.2 million adults 25-54 and 1.8 million adults 18-49. Last week's episode, meanwhile, has climbed to 6 million viewers in Live + 3 (+12% over the prior week), with 1.9 million adults 25-54 (+26%) and 1.5 million adults 18-49 (+23%).
Falling Skies' June 23 episode has reached 5.1 million viewers in Live + 3 delivery, a +14% increase over the prior week. The episode also garnered 2.8 million adults 25-54 (+18%) and 2.2 million adults 18-49 (+9%). This past Sunday's episode is off to a solid start, with more than 3.2 million viewers in Live + Same Day, including 1.6 million adults 25-54 and 1.2 million adults 18-49.
King & Maxwell, TNT's newest scripted drama, garnered 5.1 million viewers in Live + 7 for its June 10 debut, including more than 1.5 million adults 25-54 and 1.2 million adults 18-49. For last week's episode, the show has so far attracted more than 4 million viewers in Live + 3 (+2% vs. the previous week), with 1.1 million adults 25-54 (+17%) and just under 900,000 adults 18-49 (+29%).
TNT's coverage of the Quaker State 400 from Kentucky averaged a 2.6 U.S. HH rating (+4% vs. 2.5 HH Rtg in 2012) and 4.0 million viewers (+3% vs. 3.9 million in 2012) to rank as cable's most-viewed sports program of the week (based on P2+). This marks the fourth consecutive race NASCAR on TNT has ranked as cable's #1 sports program of the day.
Adult Swim
Across June Primetime (Broadcast definition) rankings, Adult Swim ranked #1 among basic cable networks for overall delivery of adults 18-34. Compared to June 2012, Primetime delivery increased by double digits (11%-28%) across the board -adults 18-24 grew by 25%, adults 18-34 by 19%, adults 18-49 by 13%, men 18-24 by 28%, men 18-34 by 18% and men 18-49 by 11%.
Adult Swim's June 2013 Total Day Delivery averages ranked #1 among adults 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 and men 18-24, 18-34 & 18-49 on basic cable. Compared to June 2012, Total day delivery grew among adults 18-24 by 10%, adults 18-34 by 7%, adults 18-49 by 3%, men 18-24 by 6% and men 18-34 by 4%.
New episodes of Adult Swim original series The Venture Bros. (Sunday, 12 a.m.) claimed #1 in its timeslot among men 18-34 and grew by double digits across the board vs. the same time period last year. Similarly, new episodes of Bob's Burgers (Sunday, 11 p.m.) increased delivery among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and men 18-34 between 6% - 10% vs. the same time period last year.
Saturday's new episodes of Bleach (12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and men 18-24, while Naruto (12:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among adults 18-24 and men 18-24 & 18-34. Premieres of all TOONAMI show new episodes earned double-digit increases across adults & men 18-34 & 18-49 vs. the same time period last year.
Throughout June, Adult Swim programming accounted for 30 of the top 50 telecasts on basic cable among adults 18-34 and men 18-34, both more than any other network.
Cartoon Network
Across June 2013, Cartoon Network ranked as television's #1 network for Early Prime (7-9 p.m.) delivery of boys 6-11 & 9-14, and #1 for Total Day delivery of boys 9-14.
On a night-by-night basis, Cartoon Network reached the #1 television network for boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14 among all TV on Monday & Wednesday Night (7-9 p.m.), and the #1 television network for boys 6-11 & 9-14 on Tuesday & Thursday Night.
Cartoon Network original animated series Adventure Time (Monday, 7:30 p.m.), Regular Show (Monday, 8 p.m.) and Teen Titans Go! (Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.) each ranked #1 in their respective time periods on all television among boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14.
Original animated series The Amazing World of Gumball (Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.) ranked #1 in its timeslot among kids 2-11 & 6-11 and all boys 2-11, 6-11 & 9-14, with new episodes achieving 2-4% rating gains among kids 2-11 & 6-11 and boys 6-11 vs. the same time period last year.
Saturday Morning premieres of Pokémon BW: Adventures in Unova (8:30 a.m.) and Beyblade: Metal Fury (8 a.m.) ranked #1 in their respective time periods with boys 9-14.
TBS
TBS has scored double-digit primetime growth for the month of June, with total viewers up 11%, adults 18-49 up 12% and adults 18-34 up 13%. TBS also saw growth in its primetime deliveries for Q2 2013. Competitively, TBS finished the month and the quarter ranking second behind TNT among adults 18-49 in primetime.
Thursday's episode of the hit TBS sitcom Sullivan & Son has scored outstanding growth over the prior week. The episode has averaged 2.5 million viewers in Live + 3, an increase of +16% over the previous week. Sullivan & Son also garnered more than 1.3 million adults 18-49 (+29%) and 566,000 adults 18-34 (+24%).
With Sullivan & Son and episodes of The Big Bang Theory, TBS claimed all of basic cable's Top 25 sitcom telecasts for the week among total viewers and adults 18-49.
truTV
truTV's Hardcore Pawn (Tuesday 9 p.m.) attracted 2 million viewers Tuesday night, a +6% increase over the prior week. The show also drew 888,000 adults 18-49 (+3% vs. the prior week) and 445,000 men 18-49 (+2%), ranking as one of ad-supported cable's Top 5 programs in the timeslot with total viewers and adults 18-49. Once again, Hardcore Pawn also helped lift truTV to a Top 10 finish for the night with key male demos.
South Beach Tow (Wednesday 9:30 p.m.) hitched up 1.5 million viewers last week, with 788,000 adults 18-49 and 394,000 men 18-49. The show ranked as one of basic cable's Top 5 programs in its timeslot with adults 18-34 and men 18-34, and lifted truTV to a Top 10 finish among all basic cable networks for the night with key adult and male demos. In addition, South Beach Tow continues to pull in a younger audience, with last week's episode charting a median age of only 34, 11 years younger than the same timeslot a year ago.
