Gaining viewers for the 2nd week (+5% - 4.0 million vs. 3.8 million), ABC marked its most-watched week since the NBA Finals 6 weeks ago - since w/o 6/17/13. Additionally, the Network was up from the same week last year by 1.2 million viewers (4.0 million vs. 2.8 million) and by 25% in Adults 18-49 (1.0/3 vs. 0.8/2).
Rankings: Hitting season highs, ABC's "The Bachelorette" finished as a Top 5 TV show for the week in Adults 18-49 (No. 5) and a Top 10 show in Total Viewers (No. 7). ABC's "20/20" ranked as the week's No. 1 newsmagazine in key Adults (AD18-49/AD25-54).
Monday
With increasing numbers from "The Bachelorette" and "Mistresses," ABC won Monday in Total Viewers (6.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.0/6) over CBS.
· Hitting summer highs on the night, the Net marked its strongest summer Monday in more than 1 year in viewers and young adults - since 6/11/12 and 7/9/12, respectively.
"The Bachelorette" (8:00-10:01 p.m.)
From 8:00-10:00 p.m., "The Bachelorette" (part 1 of a 2-part season finale) dominated its 2-hour time period, defeating NBC's unscripted combo ("American Ninja Warrior"/"Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls") by a best-yet 3.4 million viewers (7.8 million vs. 4.4 million) and by 71% in Adults 18-49 (2.4/7 vs. 1.4/4).
· Spiking week to week in Total Viewers (+22%) and Adults 18-49 (+26%), "The Bachelorette" achieved season-highs on both counts.
"Mistresses" (10:01-11:00 p.m.)
During the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "Mistresses" more than doubled the audience of NBC's "Siberia" (4.0 million vs. 1.9 million) and led by 71% in Adults 18-49 (1.2/4 vs. 0.7/2). The ABC drama equaled 7-week highs in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 - since 6/10/13.
· On average season to date, "Mistresses" is boosting its time period for ABC by strong double-digit percentages in Total Viewers (+29% - 4.9 million vs. 3.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (+42% - 1.7/5 vs. 1.2/3).
Tuesday
"Extreme Weight Loss" (8:00-10:00 p.m.)
From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" increased its Adult 18-49 delivery 9% week to week (1.2/4 vs. 1.1/3) to equal a season high. Up against strong unscripted competition from NBC's "America's Got Talent" and Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" during the 9 o'clock hour, "Extreme Weight Loss" grew by double-digit percentages from its first hour to its second hour in viewers (+12% - 3.4 million to 3.8 million) and young adults (+30% - 1.0/3 to 1.3/4). In fact from 9:00-10:00 p.m., "Extreme Weight Loss" nearly caught "So You Think You Can Dance" in both Total Viewers (3.8 million vs. 3.9 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.3/4 vs. 1.4/4), pacing within 100,000 viewers and 1-tenth of a rating point (tying in audience share).
Wednesday
"ABC's The Lookout" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
Building on its lead-in during Wednesday's 10 o'clock hour, "ABC's The Lookout" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+21% - 3.5 million vs. 2.9 million) and Adults 25-54 (+8% - 1.3/3 vs. 1.2/3), hitting 5-week highs on both measures - since 6/26/13. The ABC newsmagazine held even in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3), tying its best number since mid-June - since 6/19/13.
· "ABC's The Lookout" improved its hour year to year by double-digit margins in Total Viewers (+35%), Adults 25-54 (+30%) and Adults 18-49 (+29%) over original programming on the year-ago night ("Final Witness"=2.6 million viewers, 1.0/3 in AD25-54 and 0.7/2 in AD18-49)
Thursday
With "Wipeout," "Motive" and "Rookie Blue," ABC finished as the 2nd-most-watched TV network on Thursday night (4.7 million).
"Wipeout" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
At 8:00 p.m., ABC's "Wipeout" was up by double-digits week to week in viewers (+18% - 4.5 million vs. 3.8 million) and young adults (+20% - 1.2/4 vs. 1.0/4), tying its highest Adult 18-49 rating of the summer.
"Motive" (9:00-10:01 p.m.)
During the 9 o'clock hour, ABC's "Motive" drew more viewers than NBC's "The Winner Is" for the 4th straight week, leading by 5% (4.5 million vs. 4.3 million). In addition, the ABC freshman drama held even week to week among Adults 18-49 (0.8/3) and was up 20% in Adults 18-34 (0.6/2) to deliver a 5-week high - since 06/27/13.
"Rookie Blue" (10:01-11:00 p.m.)
Surging over its lead-in with viewers (+13%) and young adults (+25%), ABC's Rookie Blue ranked as the most-watched TV series during Thursday's 10pm hour for the 4th consecutive week, outdrawing NBC's "Hollywood Game Night" in the time period by 1.0 million viewers (5.1 million vs. 4.1 million).
· On average, "Rookie Blue" is up 5% (6.7 million vs. 6.4 million) over the same point last summer to deliver its most-watched season in 3 years - since 2010.
Friday
"Shark Tank-FRI 8PM" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
From 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's repeat "Shark Tank" stood as the most-watched show overall in the hour (4.5 million) and topped its network rivals in Adults 18-49 (1.2/5) for the 2nd week in a row.
· "Shark Tank" grew week to week by 9% in Adults 18-49 to deliver its highest-rated encore telecast since the beginning of June - since 6/7/13.
"Would You Fall For That?" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
In the 9 o'clock hour, ABC's "Would You Fall For That?" ranked No. 1 on the major networks (tied with the first hour of NBC's "Dateline") in both Adults 18-49 (0.9/3) and Adults 25-54 (1.3/4).
· "Would You Fall For That?" was up over its week-ago debut by 13% in Adults 18-49 and by 8% in Adults 25-54 (versus 0.8/3 and 1.2/4, respectively).
"20/20" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)
ABC's "20/20" shot up week to week by 38% in Adults 18-49 (1.1/4 vs. 0.8/3) and by 15% in Adults 25-54 (1.5/5 vs. 1.3/4) to match 6-week highs - since 6/21/13.
Sunday
"Secret Millionaire" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)
Surging over its lead-in at 8:00 p.m. with viewers (+24%) and young adults (+33%) and growing from start to finish opposite NBC's Sunday Night Football (Hall of Fame Game), the season premiere of "Secret Millionaire" delivered a summer high for ABC with regular programming in the hour among Total Viewers (5.2 million) and the Net's best Adult 18-49 number (1.2/4) since June (since 6/23/13). In addition, "Secret Millionaire" was up over its performance on the same night last year by 1.4 million viewers and by 50% in Adults 18-49 (3.8 million and 0.8/2 on 08/05/12).
· "Secret Millionaire" topped its year-ago finale (4.0 million and 1.0/3 on 8/12/12) in viewers (+30%) and young adults (+20%), posting the series' best numbers since July 15, 2012.
"Whodunnit?" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
During the 9 o'clock hour, ABC's "Whodunnit?" improved its time period year to year by strong margins in viewers (+20% - 3.0 million vs. 2.5 million) and young adults (+43% - 1.0/3 vs. 0.7/2) over original programming on the year-ago night.
