Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Charts with "Garth Brooks, Live from Las Vegas"

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (11/29/13):

CBS (6.724 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) was the network to beat on Friday with encores of "hoops&yoyo Ruin Christmas" (2.310 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T13) and "The Elf on the Shelf: An Elf's Story" (3.050 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) followed by the new two-hour special "Garth Brooks, Live from Las Vegas" (8.745 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1).

ABC (5.116 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then got bumped to second place with its second run lineup of "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" (5.859 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T2), "Shrek the Halls" (5.367 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T2) and "Shark Tank" (4.695 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5) plus a new "20/20" (5.040 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

Next up was NBC (5.226 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) with originals from "Dateline NBC" (7.188 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "Grimm" (5.657 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) and "Dracula" (2.833 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.297 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) served up a repeat of "Bones" (2.904 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) alongside a new "Raising Hope" (1.752 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) and a second "Raising Hope" (1.628 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9).

And finally, a rebroadcast of "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" (1.232 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T13) and a new "Nikita" (0.885 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #15) on The CW (1.058 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Grandma" delivered a 0.4 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Nikita" a 0.3 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.6/2 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.2/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/2 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (11/30/12):

CBS (9.91 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) lead the charge on Friday with new episodes of "Undercover Boss" (8.73 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1), "CSI: NY" (9.82 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T5) and "Blue Bloods" (11.18 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T5).

ABC (6.03 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) then shared the demo crown with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (6.80 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T3), "Malibu Country" (6.33 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T5), a repeat of "Shark Tank" (5.84 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T3) and "20/20" (5.69 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2).

Next up was FOX (4.05 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its coverage of the "Pac-12 Football Championship" (4.05 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #8).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.73 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) was out of the hunt with repeats of "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" (4.06 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10) and "Grimm" (2.80 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #11) plus a new "Dateline NBC" (4.34 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #9).
