Live + 7 Day Ratings: ABC Owns 3 of the Week's Top 5 Biggest Broadcast Gainers, as "Grey's" and "Modern" Hit Highs in TV Playback

Based on Nielsen's TV playback data, ABC stood as the week's biggest percentage gainer with Adults 18-49 among the major networks, shooting up 38% over its Live + Same Day rating to deliver a 2.2 in the final Live + 7 Day ratings.
With 3 of the week's Top 5 biggest broadcast gainers in Adults 18-49, ABC claimed the most for any network: Modern Family (+2.2 rating points), Grey's Anatomy (+1.8 rating points) and Scandal (+1.5 rating points). In fact, Modern Family stood within 1-tenth of a rating point with CBS' The Big Bang Theory to stand as the week's #1 gainer in TV playback in Adults 18-49 (+2.2 rating points vs. +2.3 rating points). Scandal was the week's 2nd-biggest gainer for any 10pm broadcast series among Adults 18-49, behind only NBC's The Blacklist. Modern Family (+4.7 million), Grey's Anatomy (+4.1 million) and Scandal (+3.9 million) also placed among the week's Top 6 biggest overall gainers.
ABC's Grey's Anatomy spiked 78% over its L+SD Adult 18-49 rating and scored its largest-ever percentage build, delivering a 4.1 rating in the final L+7 numbers. Growing 69% over its L+SD rating (to deliver a 5.4 in L+7 in Adults 18-49) Modern Family delivered a new high in playback for the season for its 3rd original in a row. Additionally, the ABC sitcom posted its biggest Total Viewer increase of the season, growing by +4.7 million viewers over its L+SD tally.
Shark Tank grew to 8.9 million Total Viewers in the final L+7 data to draw its biggest audience ever.
In the final Live + 7 Day ratings, Grey's Anatomy shot up to the week's Top 10 highest-rated broadcast series in Adults 18-49 (4.1 rating), ranking #8 versus #18 in the initial Live + Same Day numbers. In addition, Modern Family (5.4 rating) jumped up to finish #3 (versus #7) and Scandal (4.5 rating) moved up to #6 (from #10) in the final L+7 rankings.

Based on TV playback data for the 2013-14 season, ABC claims the most Top 10 playback gainers of any broadcast network in Adults 18-49 and Total Viewers. With each show adding on at least +1.5 rating points in Adults 18-49 over their L+SD numbers, ABC has 4 of the season's 10 biggest TV playback gainers on the broadcast networks: Modern Family (+2.0 rating points), Grey's Anatomy (+1.9 rating points), Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (+1.8 rating points) and Scandal (+1.6 rating points). ABC owns 5 of the 10 biggest overall gainers on the broadcast networks: Castle (+4.3 million), Modern Family (+4.2 million), Grey's (+4.0 million), Scandal (+3.9 million) and S.H.I.E.L.D. (+3.9 million).
Nearly all of ABC's key returning series are seeing bigger percentage gains among Adults 18-49 from L+SD to L+7 this year than last: Castle (+57% vs. +50%), Dancing with the Stars (+20% vs. +18%), Grey's Anatomy (+68% vs. +50%), Last Man Standing (+46% vs. +40%), The Middle (+27% vs. +23%), Modern Family (+53% vs. +45%), Nashville (+71% vs. +57%), The Neighbors (+30% vs. +15%), Once Upon a Time (+55% vs. +42%), Revenge (+59% vs. +50%), Scandal (+53% vs. +43%) and Shark Tank (+32% vs. +21%).
· Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is Tuesday's #1 TV show this season with Adults 18-49 based on original telecasts, beating NBC's The Voice by 4% (4.7 rating vs. 4.5 rating). In fact, based on first-run telecasts in the L+7 Adult 18-49 ratings, ABC claims the season's #1 TV show on Tuesday (S.H.I.E.L.D. - 4.7 rating), the #1 show on Wednesday (Modern Family - 5.8), the #2 and #3 shows on Thursday (Grey's - 4.7 - and Scandal - 4.6) and the #2 show on Friday (Shark Tank - 2.5).
· Modern Family is the season's #2 scripted series among Adults 18-49 on the broadcast networks (5.8).
