Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Leads Viewers, Demos with "NCIS"

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/14/14):

CBS (15.892 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1) was still the network to beat on Tuesday with new episodes of "NCIS" (19.453 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (15.874 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2) and "Person of Interest" (12.349 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #4).

NBC (5.876 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then claimed the silver with fresh installments of "The Biggest Loser 15" (5.508 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #7) and "Chicago Fire" (6.612 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T5).

Next up was ABC (4.638 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) with its original mix of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (6.254 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.2, #3), "The Goldbergs" (4.895 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T5), "Trophy Wife" (3.497 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #12) and "Killer Women" (3.465 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #15).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.129 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) served up new episodes of "Dads" (3.179 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T10), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (3.524 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #9), "New Girl" (3.275 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.6, #8) and "The Mindy Project" (2.538 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T10).

And finally, the return of "The Originals" (1.981 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.9, #14) and "Supernatural" (2.259 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #13) on The CW (2.120 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Originals" delivered a 1.2 rating while "Supernatural" posted a 1.1 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.7/3; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.5/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 19 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/15/13):

CBS (16.957 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) topped the charts on Tuesday with originals from "NCIS" (22.336 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.8, #1), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (17.482 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.7, #2) and "Vegas" (11.053 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T7).

NBC (4.801 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then snagged the silver with its lineup of "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (5.384 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #11), another "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (5.924 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5), "Go On" (4.363 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.7, #6), "The New Normal" (3.235 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T12) and "Parenthood" (4.952 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T3).

Next up was FOX (3.113 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) with its mix of "Raising Hope" (3.723 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T7), "Ben & Kate" (2.317 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T15), "New Girl" (3.625 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T3) and "The Mindy Project" (2.789 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 1.5, #10).

Meanwhile, ABC (3.701 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) was out of the hunt with repeats of "Modern Family" (5.177 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T7) and "Suburgatory" (3.183 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #17) plus new episodes of "Happy Endings" (3.055 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T12), "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" (2.714 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T15) and "Private Practice" (4.038 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #14).

And finally on The CW (1.219 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5), the return of "Hart of Dixie" (1.414 million viewers, #18; adults 18-49: 0.6, #18) and a new "Emily Owens, MD" (1.025 million viewers, #19; adults 18-49: 0.3, #19) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Dixie" delivered a 1.0 rating while "Emily" posted a 0.5 rating.

* In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.8/4.

* From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters. Versus the prior Tuesday, "Nightline" was down 33 percent in metered-market households (1.2 vs. 1.8).

* Tuesday season averages prior to ABC's January 8 schedule change were: in metered-market households, "Tonight," 2.7 rating, 7 share; "Late Show," 2.6/7; "Nightline," 3.1/8; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.7/5. In the Local People Meters, 18-49 season averages were: "Tonight," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.6/3; "Nightline," 1.0/4; "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3. Versus the prior Tuesday, Jimmy Fallon was up 17 percent in metered-market households (1.4 vs. 1.2) and "Late Late Show" was flat (1.2 vs. 1.2).

* From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

* At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters. Versus the prior Tuesday, Carson Daly was up 14 percent in metered-market households (0.8 vs. 0.7).
