Friday's Broadcast Ratings: "Shark Tank" Helps ABC Hold Off CBS in Demos

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/31/14):

ABC (6.137 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) was still the demo champ on Friday with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (6.873 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #7), "The Neighbors" (4.326 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #9), "Shark Tank" (7.362 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.1, #1) and "20/20" (5.450 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2).

CBS (11.047 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then was a competitive second place with originals from "Undercover Boss" (9.228 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), "Hawaii Five-0" (11.126 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (12.788 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T5).

Next up was FOX (4.581 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its Monday-bound "Bones" (6.814 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T5) followed by new episodes of "Enlisted" (2.793 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #11) and "Raising Hope" (1.903 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #12).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.125 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) served up a rebroadcast of "Hollywood Game Night" (3.380 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10) followed by a new two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.998 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #8).

And finally, the season finale of "The Carrie Diaries" (0.917 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13) and a repeat of "Supernatural" (0.769 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) closed out the evening on The CW (0.843 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Carrie" delivered a 0.4 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Supernatural" a 0.2 rating at 9:00/8:00c.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (2.2/7 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.8/5 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.5/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (2/1/13):

CBS (10.539 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) topped the charts on Friday with the winter finale of "Undercover Boss" (9.856 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T1) alongside originals from "CSI: NY" (10.360 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (11.401 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3).

ABC (6.053 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then was a close second place with its mix of "Last Man Standing" (6.885 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6), "Malibu Country" (5.948 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7), "Shark Tank" (6.662 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T1) and "20/20" (5.080 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T3).

Next up was NBC (3.502 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with its telecast of "The 44th Annual NAACP Awards" (3.047 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #10) plus a one-hour installment of "Dateline NBC" (4.412 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.664 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) offered up a new "Kitchen Nightmares" (2.935 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) and a rebroacast of "The Following" (2.394 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11).
