Friday Primetime Results (note that some L.A.-area stations preempted programming for earthquake coverage at about 9:10 p.m. PT):
· "Dateline NBC" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 8.0 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) generated its biggest total-viewer result for a Friday edition in three years (since averaging 8.150 million on March 25, 2011). In adults 18-49, "Dateline" matched last week's rating and equaled its high since March 7. "Dateline" grew steadily throughout its two hours, with this half-hour track in 18-49: 1.2, 1.4, 1.5, 1.7. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline" grew by 42% in adults 18-49, 41% in adults 25-54 (to a 2.4 from a 1.7) and 32% or 2.2 million persons in total viewers (9.1 million vs. 6.9 million).
· In the time period, "Dateline" was the #1 non-sports choice in the slot among ABC, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.
· "Hannibal" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) jumped 22% week to week in 18-49 (to a 1.1 from a 0.9) to match its season high (its best rating since the Feb. 28 season premiere also did a 1.1). The 1.1 equals "Hannibal's" best rating since April 18, 2013, when the show's third episode ever earned a 1.4. In total viewers, "Hannibal" is up week to week by 36% (3.6 million vs. 2.7 million), for a season high and best "Hannibal" since the show's second episode ever, on April 11, 2013, averaged 4.376 million. In the time period, "Hannibal" tied for #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-34 (with a 0.8 rating) and was #2 outright among those nets in men 18-34 (0.7). L+3 Time-Shifting: The prior week's "Hannibal" grew by 58% going from its next-day L+SD rating to L+3 (to a 1.36 from a 0.86).
· "Hannibal" has now held steady or grown week to week in adults 18-49 for three weeks in a row and has grown week to week in total viewers for the last two weeks in a row.
In Late-Night Metered Markets Friday night:
· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 3.0/7; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.2/6 with an encore delayed by basketball; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.2/5 with an encore.
· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "Tonight," 1.2/5; "Late Show," 0.7/4 with an encore delayed by basketball; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3 with an encore.
· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.4/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/4 with an encore delayed by basketball). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.7/4 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/2 with an encore delayed by basketball).
· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.9/4 in metered-market households and a 0.5/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
