ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Is Up from Its Last Original 8pm Telecast in Viewers and Adults 18-49

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (8-9pm - 5.7 million and 1.8/6 in AD18-49):

During the 8 o'clock hour, ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. took 2nd place in Adults 18-49 and was up 1-tenth from its last original telecast in the hour two weeks ago in the Fast Affiliate ratings (+6% - 1.8/6 vs. 1.7/6 Fast Affiliate on 4/8/14, which rose 2-tenths in the Nationals). Please Note: S.H.I.E.L.D. regularly increases from the preliminary Fast Affiliate numbers to the L+SD National ratings, rising between 1-2-tenths in Adults 18-49. So far this season, originals have gone up 15 times from the morning numbers to the afternoon numbers. In addition, the ABC drama was up 16% in Total Viewers over its last original in the hour (5.7 million vs. 4.9 million Fast Affiliate on 4/8/14), drawing its biggest overall audience in 3 weeks - since 4/1/14.

· S.H.I.E.L.D was the #1 scripted series in its hour among Men 18-34 for its 19th-straight original telecast. S.H.I.E.L.D. is Tuesday's #1 TV show this season with Men 18-34 and Men 18-49.

· S.H.I.E.L.D. improved its hour by 64% for ABC year to year in Adults 18-49, over the year-ago night with original programming.

The Goldbergs (9-9:30pm - 3.1 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

During the 9pm half-hour, ABC's repeat The Goldbergs beat Fox's repeat New Girl by 1.7 million viewers (3.1 million vs. 1.4 million) and by 50% in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3 vs. 0.6/2).

Trophy Wife (9:30-10pm - 2.1 million and 0.6/2 in AD18-49):

During the 9:30pm half-hour, ABC's repeat Trophy Wife matched Fox's original The Mindy Project in Total Viewers (2.1 million).

Celebrity Wife Swap (10-11pm - 3.0 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):

Despite having a lower lead-in this week at 10pm (last week aired out of an original S.H.I.E.L.D.), Celebrity Wife Swap paced within 1-tenth of its week-ago premiere in the hour in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3 vs. 1.0/3). The ABC unscripted series held 100% of its premiere delivery in Adults 18-34.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 49% currently, from 47% at the same point in 2013. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year- to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
