"48 HOURS: END OF THE TRAIL" IS MONDAY'S #1 BROADCAST AT 10:00 PM WITH VIEWERS
48 HOURS: "End of the Trail" was Monday's #1 broadcast at 10:00 PM with viewers, according to live plus same day ratings for May 26, 2014.
48 HOURS delivered 5.05m viewers and a 1.4/04 with adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news. "End of the Trail" was the first of four all-new 48 HOURS broadcasts to be presented Mondays at 10:00 PM, ET/PT.
Monday's broadcast featured Maureen Maher and 48 HOURS' report into the murder case against Arizona stockbroker Steven DeMocker, who was accused of killing his ex-wife, Carol Kennedy, in 2008. Kennedy was beaten in her home just outside Prescott, Ariz. DeMocker told police he was a mile and a half away on a bike ride at the time of the murder, and denied having anything to do with his ex-wife's killing.
The police investigation turned up no physical evidence tying DeMocker to Kennedy's death. Police arrested DeMocker three months after the murder saying they had a strong circumstantial case. Legal maneuvers, court delays and the death of a judge would delay a resolution in the case for five years. The case turned on revelations made by DeMocker's former girlfriend, Renee Girard, who spoke out to 48 HOURS.
48 HOURS: "End of The Trail" is produced by Sara Hulse, Asena Basak and Clare Friedland. Jud Johnston, George Baluzy and Mike Mongulla are the editors. Al Briganti is the executive editor. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
