During the week of May 26, 2014, ABC claimed 4 of the Top 15 non-sports TV programs in Adults 18-49: "The Bachelorette" - No. 4, while "20/20," "The Bachelorette-SP" and "Modern Family" tied at No. 15. ABC's "20/20" was the No. 1 newsmagazine for the 2nd week in a row among Adults 18-49.
Monday
With "The Bachelorette" and a repeat "Castle," ABC was the most-watched broadcast network (5.5 million) on Memorial Day. The Net ranked No. 1 overall on the night with key Women demos (W18-49/W25-54), while finishing as the No. 2 broadcaster in Adults 18-49 (1.3/4-tie).
· ABC's "The Bachelorette" was Monday's No. 1 TV series in Total Viewers, Adults 18-49 (tie) and key Women (W18-49/W25-54).
"The Bachelorette" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 6.0 million and 1.6/5 in AD18-49):
Moving into its regular 8:00-10:00 p.m. slot following last week's post-"DWTS" 90-minute premiere, "The Bachelorette" made ABC the most-watched TV network (6.0 million) and key Women (W18-49/W25-54) in its 2-hour time period, as well as making ABC the top-rated broadcast net with Teens 12-17.
"Castle-SP" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 4.5 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):
During the 10:00 p.m. hour, ABC's repeat "Castle" tied CBS' first-run "48 Hours" in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3) and led the CBS newsmagazine with Adults 18-34 (0.6/2).
Tuesday
With the season premiere of "Extreme Weight Loss" and "Celebrity Wife Swap," ABC ran as the No. 2 broadcaster on Tuesday in Adults 18-49 to NBC with the season opener of "America's Got Talent," more than doubling Fox's night of originals (+160% - 1.3/4 vs. 0.5/2).
"Extreme Weight Loss" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 4.0 million and 1.3/4 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" was up 8% in Adults 18-49 over its year-ago premiere in the same time period (1.2/3 on 5/28/13) to equal its highest rating since July 2012 - since 7/15/12.
"Celebrity Wife Swap" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 3.9 million and 1.2/4 in AD18-49):
During the 10:00 p.m. hour, ABC's "Celebrity Wife Swap" shot up over its last original two weeks ago in Total Viewers (+39%) and Adults 18-49 (+33%) to deliver new season highs on both measures. In fact, the series drew its biggest overall audience in nearly 1 year and its top Adult 18-49 number since mid-July - since 6/23/13 and 7/14/13, respectively.
Wednesday
The Goldbergs" (8:30-9:00 p.m. - 4.1 million and 1.1/4 in AD18-49):
On its slot premiere in the Wednesday 8:30 p.m. half hour, ABC's encore "The Goldbergs" retained 100% of its Adult 18-49 lead-in (1.1/4) from "The Middle," while building by double digits with Teens 12-17 (+20%) and Kids 2-11 (+29%).
· "The Goldbergs" improved its half-hour for ABC year to year by 10% in Adults 18-49, topping original comedy programming on the same night last year ("Family Tools" on 5/29/13 = 1.0/3).
"Modern Family" (9:00-9:31 p.m. - 4.5 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49):
ABC's repeat "Modern Family" was Wednesday's No. 2 program in Adults 18-49 on the major nets (1.3/4).
"The Goldbergs-SP - R" (9:31-10:00 p.m. - 3.9 million and 1.2/3 in AD18-49):
In the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, the night's second encore of ABC's "The Goldbergs" matched the show's best-ever repeat number in Adults 18-49 (1.2/3).
"Motive" (10:00-11:00 p.m. - 4.1 million and 0.9/3 in AD18-49):
Despite airing out of repeat programming during the 10 o'clock hour, ABC's "Motive" held steady with its week-earlier season premiere in Adults 18-49 (0.9/3) and gained 8% in Adults 25-54 (1.3/3 vs. 1.2/3). On the prior week, "Motive" premiered out of ABC's Wednesday night comedy season finales.
Friday
With a repeat "Shark Tank," leading into "What Would You Do?" and "20/20," ABC ranked as Friday's No. 1 non-sports network in Adults 18-49 (1.2/5 - tied with NBC).
· ABC's "20/20" was the No. 1 program of the night on the major nets and continued its run as Friday's top newsmagazine in Adults 18-49 (1.4/5), beating NBC's "Dateline" (8:00-10:00 p.m.) by 8%.
· In the 10 o'clock hour, "20/20" ranked as the No. 1 series, beating NBC's "Crossbones" premiere by 40% in Adults 18-49 (1.4/5 vs. 1.0/4) and by 29% in Adults 25-54 (1.8/5 vs. 1.4/4). In fact, the ABC newsmagazine was the top series in its hour for its 13th-straight telecast in Adults 18-49.
· Despite the increased competition this week from the "Crossbones premiere" and the NBA Playoffs on ESPN, "20/20" held 100% of its numbers from the prior week in key Adults (AD18-49/AD25-54), matching its top summertime performance in nearly 1 year - since 6/21/13.
Saturday
With the second season premiere of "Bet on Your Baby" and the debut of "Sing Your Face Off," ABC ranked as the No. 1 broadcaster on Saturday in Adults 18-49 (0.6/2-tied w/NBC), beating CBS by 20% (0.5/2) and Fox's MLB coverage by 50% (0.4/2).
"Bet on Your Baby" (8:00-9:00 p.m. - 2.2 million and 0.5/2 in AD18-49):
From 8:00-9:00 p.m., ABC's season premiere of "Bet on Your Baby" held even with last year's debut in Adults 18-49 (0.5/2 on 4/13/13) and was up 25% from its season finale on the same night last summer (0.4/2 on 6/1/13). The ABC unscripted series ranked as the No. 1 series in the hour among Adults 18-49 (tie).
"Sing Your Face Off" (9:00-11:00 p.m. - 2.7 million and 0.6/2 in AD18-49):
From 9:00-11:00 p.m., ABC's debut of "Sing Your Face Off" improved its 2-hour slot by 17% in Total Viewers (2.7 million vs. 2.3 million) and by 20% in Adults 18-49 (0.6/2 vs. 0.5/2) over the Net's Summer 2013 non-sports average in the 2-hour time period. The new show built on its lead-in and gained viewers in each half-hour of its broadcast.
Sunday
With a repeat "AFHV," a special "The Bachelorette" and a repeat "S.H.I.E.L.D.," ABC was No. 1 on Sunday in Adults 18-49 among the broadcasters (1.1/3), leading Fox by 10% (1.0/3), NBC by 22% (0.9/3) and CBS by 83% (0.6/2).
· ABC's 2-hour "The Bachelorette" special was the No. 1 broadcast program of the night in Adults 18-49 and across all key Women demos (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).
"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m. - 5.3 million and 1.0/4 in AD18-49)
From 7:00-8:00 p.m., ABC's repeat "America's Funniest Home Videos" won its hour among Adults 18-49.
"The Bachelorette" (8:00-10:00 p.m. - 5.0 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49)
From 8:00-10:00 p.m. among Adults 18-49, "The Bachelorette" scored ABC's best summertime entertainment delivery in the 2-hour time period since September 2012 - since its "Emmy" broadcast on 9/23/12. The ABC unscripted series ranked No. 1 in each half-hour against its broadcast competition among Adults 18-49.
