Game Three of the 2014 NBA Finals, in which the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Miami Heat to take a 2-1 series lead, generated a strong 10.3 overnight rating on ABC, up from last year's Game Three between the same two teams. The broadcast peaked with a 12.6 rating between 11:30-11:45 p.m. ET, according to Nielsen.
The Game Three broadcast marks the 40th consecutive time an NBA Finals game has won the night across all of television, nearly doubling its competition. The top local markets include San Antonio (40.5), Miami (30.9), West Palm Beach (18.2), Austin (17.9) and Memphis (14.8).
Additionally, the NBA Finals continues to deliver huge audiences on ESPN3. Game Three generated 346,000 unique viewers, up 61 percent from last year.

Through three games, the 2014 NBA Finals are averaging 14,921,000 viewers per game, up five percent versus last year's Finals through three games (14,278,000 viewers). The games are averaging a 9.0 U.S. household rating, up five percent versus last year's Finals through three games (8.6 U.S. household rating).
NBA Finals Game Three averaged 14,775,000 viewers, up five percent from Game Three in 2013. The broadcast peaked with 18,569,000 million viewers from 11:30-11:45 p.m. ET. Game Three generated a 9.0 U.S. household rating, up six percent from last year's corresponding game.
The success of NBA Finals Game Three helped propel ABC to win the night in rating and viewership across all of television for the 40th consecutive time.
