"THE TONIGHT SHOW" HANDILY DEFEATS ALL BROADCAST, CABLE TIMESLOT COMPETITION FOR WEEK OF JULY 7-11

Fallon Far Better Than Kimmel Encores and Four Nights of Letterman Originals; 'Late Night' Also an Easy Winner

NEW YORK - July 17, 2014 - "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" was the easy winner for the week of July 7-11 versus broadcast and cable late-night competition, outrating encores of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and all originals (except Friday) of "Late Show with David Letterman."

Returning after two weeks of encores, "The Tonight Show" earned a 1.10 in the 18-49 demo, which was better than the combined 18-49 ratings for both "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (0.52) and "Late Show with David Letterman" (0.46). "The Tonight Show" was best in all key demos and total viewers as well.

Also returning after two weeks of repeats, the 12:35 a.m. series "Late Night with Seth Meyers" drew a 0.54 rating in the 18-49 demo for the week (note that Friday was an encore episode). Like "The Tonight Show," "Late Night" outrated Kimmel and Letterman, even though both those shows begin an hour earlier at 11:35 p.m. "Late Night" also performed better than ABC's newsmagazine "Nightline" and "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson."

Versus the same week a year ago, "The Tonight Show" saw a 31% improvement and "Late Night" jumped 15%.

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" matched its best 18-49 rating (0.35) since the week of March 17 (0.37).
