FOX (10.475 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1) was the network to beat on Wednesday with week two of "American Idol" (10.662 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #3) and "Empire" (10.289 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 4.0, #1).
ABC (6.234 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then claimed the silver with originals from "The Middle" (7.821 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.2, #T5), "The Goldbergs" (7.183 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.3, #4), "Modern Family" (9.348 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 3.0, #2) and "Black-ish" (6.602 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 2.0, #7) plus a repeat "Forever" (3.224 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13).
