The Reign of THRONES Continues As Premiere Episode Outpaces Previous Season
Going Clear Becomes One of the Top Docus in HBO History
GAME OF THRONES(R)' highly anticipated fifth season premiere conquered 18.1 million viewers to-date (Linear Plays + Live+7 DVR + HBO On Demand/HBO GO + HBO NOW). That's approximately 1.2 million viewers more when compared to last year's first episode after a similar period of time (16.9 million). GAME OF THRONES ultimately averaged a gross audience of 19.1 million viewers per episode for season 4, becoming the most watched season of an HBO series on record.
The premiere episode of SILICON VALLEY(R) season 2 tallied 5.7 million viewers to-date, above last year's debut episode after a similar period of time (up 300,000 viewers). The high-tech comedy averaged a gross audience of 5.8 million viewers per episode last year, making it HBO's most watched half-hour since ENTOURAGE ended.
VEEP(R) continued to legislate laughs for the season 4 debut episode with 4 million viewers to-date, in line with season 3 first episode. Season 3 went on to average a gross audience of 4.5 million viewers per episode, making it the series' most watched season.
Episodes of LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER season 2 are currently averaging a gross audience of 4.1 million viewers, slightly ahead of last season's average.
GOING CLEAR: SCIENTOLOGY AND THE PRISON OF BELIEF has a gross audience of 6.8 million viewers to date, making it one of the most watched documentaries in the company's history, second only to the music/doc hybrid BEYONCE: LIFE IS BUT A DREAM (8.9 million viewers in 2013).
