"48 HOURS: FALL FROM GRACE" IS SATURDAY'S #1 PROGRAM WITH ADULTS 25-54 AND VIEWERS

"48 Hours" Posts Double-Digit Percentage Year-to-Year Increases

48 HOURS: "Fall From Grace" was Saturday's #1 program with adults 25-54 and viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for August 1.

48 HOURS: "Fall From Grace" (R) (10:00-11:00 PM) delivered 3.82 million viewers and a 0.9/03 with adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news. Compared to the same night last year, 48 HOURS was up +13% in adults 25-54 and +24% in viewers.

At 9:00 PM, 48 HOURS: "Murder in Pinyon Pines" was #1 in viewers and in adults 25-54. "Murder in Pinyon Pines" (R) (S) delivered 3.45 million viewers and a 0.8/03 with adults 25-54 (tied for first with ABC). 48 HOURS: "Murder in Pinyon Pines" was the night's #2 program in viewers, behind 48 HOURS: "Fall From Grace."

"Murder in Pinyon Pines" featured Roberts and 48 HOURS' investigation into an unsolved triple murder. On Sept. 17, 2006, Becky Friedli was found burning in a wheelbarrow outside of her home in Pinyon Pines, Calif. Inside, her mother and her mother's boyfriend were shot dead and the home set afire. Seven years later, two men were arrested and charged with murder. But an unexpected courtroom twist turned the case upside-down. The District Attorney said there was an "issue" in the grand jury proceeding against one of the men and dropped the charges for both. The case remains open.

"Fall from Grace" is Roberts and 48 HOURS' investigation into the death of Bethany Deaton, a wife and a nurse with a bright future, who in October 2012 was found dead by law enforcement in Grandview, Mo. in the backseat of a minivan. She had plastic bag on her head. A suicide note was nearby along with an empty bottle of over-the-counter sleeping pills. The story behind Deaton's death includes an alleged fundamentalist Christian religious group some likened to a cult and a dream marriage to the group's leader, Tyler Deaton. Police didn't believe Bethany killed herself because the way she was found didn't fit the pattern of someone taking their own life. Police thought they might have had the case solved when a member of the religious group confessed to killing Bethany. However, he later recanted his story and was released, leaving unanswered the question of what exactly happened to Bethany Deaton.
