"60 MINUTES" MAKES TOP 10 IN ITS 48TH SEASON PREMIERE
Interviews with Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump Drive Ratings and the National Conversation
60 MINUTES drew 15.04 million viewers to land at #7 on Nielsen's Top 10 list in its 48th season premiere Sunday night on CBS. The most-watched news program in America also made the list in households, delivering a 9.3/15 to finish at #5.
The program featured Charlie Rose's interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Scott Pelley's interview with leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, in addition to a Bill Whitaker story about how the world's most-wanted man escaped from a Mexican prison.
The timely interviews became the subject of media reports and drew blockbuster digital traffic, where 60MINUTES.com and 60 MinutesOvertime.com featured unaired content from the news-making interviews with Putin and Trump.
Last season, 60 MINUTES made Nielsen's Top 10 List 21 times over 28 airings and increased its average weekly viewership to 12.4 million viewers, with nearly a +75% advantage over its nearest network news magazine competitor and more than three million viewers ahead of the most-watched daily network evening news broadcast.
