'SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE' EARNS ITS TOP RATING FOR AN ENCORE SINCE FEB. 21
'DATELINE MYSTERY' DELIVERS NBC'S BIGGEST SATURDAY 8-10 P.M. TOTAL-VIEWER RESULT, EXCLUDING SPORTS, SINCE FEBRUARY
In Late-Night Metered-Market Household Averages for Saturday night:
· An encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live," with host and musical guest Miley Cyrus (3.1/8 in metered-market households, 1.2/6 in adults 18-49 in the local people meters) delivered the best rating for an "SNL" rebroadcast since February in metered-market households.
· The 3.1 was the highest household rating for an encore "Saturday Night Live" since Feb. 21 (3.1/8 with host and musical guest Blake Shelton) and equaled the high since Feb. 14 (3.8/10 with host George Carlin and musical guests Janis Ian and Billy Preston).
· In 18-49 in the local people meters, "Saturday Night Live" earned the show's top rating for a rebroadcast since May 30 (1.3/6 with host Cameron Diaz and musical guests Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.
· Versus last season's first "SNL" encore, last night's rebroadcast grew by +15% in metered-market households (3.1 vs. 2.7) and +9% in 18-49 in the local people meters (1.2 vs. 1.1).
· Note that "SNL" adds significant viewership via time-shifting, with this year's season premiere growing by +44% going from "live plus same day ratings" to "live plus seven day" rating in adults 18-49 (from a 1.82 rating to a 2.62).
Saturday Primetime Results:
· "Dateline Saturday Night Mystery" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) delivered NBC's biggest overall audience in the time period, excluding sports, since Feb. 21 (5.7 million for "Dateline Mystery") and highest 18-49 rating for non-sports programming in the slot since July 4 (1.0 for "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular").
· In the time period, "Dateline Mystery" tied for #2 among the Big 4 in adults 18-49, ranked #2 outright among those nets in adults 25-54 (with a 1.3 rating) and total viewers and was #1 in women 25-54 (1.5). From its first half-hour to its fourth, "Dateline Mystery" grew by +50% in adults 18-49 (from a 0.6 rating to a 0.9), +40% in adults 25-54 (1.0 to 1.4) and +40% or 1.6 million persons in total viewers (4.1 million to 5.7 million).
· "SNL Vintage" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET, with an encore of the Sept. 28, 1991 telecast of "Saturday night Live" with host Michael Jordan and musical guest Public Enemy) improved on the prior 10 p.m. "SNL" encore by +75% in 18-49 rating (0.7 vs. 0.4 on Oct. 10, the night of a NASCAR rainout) and +101% in total viewers (3.022 million vs. 1.507 million).
