BEARS-PACKERS JUMPS +17% VS. THE YEAR-AGO GAME IN THE METERED MARKETS, MAKING IT THE BEST-EVER NFL PRIMETIME THANKSGIVING GAME (SINCE 2006)
Thursday Primetime Results:
· NBC Sports' coverage of last night's Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers game averaged a 14.6 rating, 29 share in metered-market households from 8:30-11:45 p.m. ET, the best-ever metered-market rating for an NFL Thanksgiving primetime game (since 2006).
· The 14.6/29 overnight for NBC's Bears-Packers is up +17% versus last year's Thanksgiving night game (12.5/25 for Seahawks-49ers).
· The game delivered twin ratings peaks (15.3 each) with the Brett Favre ceremony at halftime (10-10:30 p.m. ET) and the down-to-wire finish (11:30-11:45p ET).
· Top local markets for the Bears-Packers game on NBC were: Milwaukee, 44.1/72; Chicago, 29.8/57; Minneapolis, 28.1/52; Las Vegas, 21.0/37; Denver, 19.5/40; Buffalo, 19.3/34; New Orleans, 19.0/31; Indianapolis, 17.9/33; Norfolk, 17.0/30; and Phoenix, 16.8/32
In Late-Night Metered Markets Thursday night:
· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 3.0/10, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 1.7/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.3/3 with an encore.
· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.5/9, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.3/2 with an encore.
· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.6/7 in metered-market households, delayed by an NFL overrun) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.7/6 in 18-49, delayed by an NFL overrun) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2 with an encore).
Wednesday Primetime Results:
"The Making of The Wiz Live!" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET):
· Matched the comparable year-ago special in adult 18-49 rating (0.6 vs. 0.6 for "The Making of Peter Pan Live!" on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014).
An encore telecast of "Saturday Night Live Thanksgiving" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET):
· Equals the year-ago run of this special in adult 18-49 rating (1.1 vs. 1.1 for "SNL Thanksgiving" on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014).
· Builds from its first half-hour to its fourth by +50% in adult 18-49 rating (0.8 to 1.2), +36% in adults 25-54 (1.1 to 1.5) and +26% in total viewers (3.1 million to 4.0 million).
In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday Night:
· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.7/7; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.1/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4 with an encore.
· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.
· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).
· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
Thanksgiving Day Metered-Market Results:
· NBC's coverage of "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade" has delivered the #1 rating for any entertainment telecast on the broadcast networks so far this season in metered market households.
· In adult 18-49 rating in the local people meters, it was the second-highest-rated "Macy's" parade in 12 years. At noon, "The National Dog Show Presented by Purina" walked off with its best-ever 18-49 rating in the LPMs in the 13 years NBC has been tracking the event by that measure.
· From 9 a.m.-noon, the 89th annual "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade," hosted by Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker of NBC's "Today," averaged a 12.6 rating, 27 share in households in the 56 local markets metered by Nielsen Media Research and a 7.0/30 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
· The 12.6 rating in households is the highest for any entertainment telecast on the broadcast networks so far this season, ahead of all primetime non-sports programming so far this season on ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox. The highest primetime rating on the Big 4 so far this season excluding sports is the 12.5/19 for CBS's "60 Minutes" on Sunday, Nov. 15.
· The parade's 7.0 in 18-49 is up +1% versus last year's 6.9/28, making it the second-highest demo rating for the parade in 12 years (since 2003, 10.1, when only the New York market was measured in the LPMs, trailing over that span only the 2013 parade and its 7.2/30). The 12.6 in households retains 99% of last year's 12.7/26.
· From noon-2 p.m., NBC's coverage of "The National Dog Show Presented by Purina," hosted by John O'Hurley and featuring the commentary of expert analyst David Frei (5.8/13 in metered-market households, 3.0/12 in 18-49 in the local people meters), romped +15% ahead of last year's 2.6/10 in the LPMs, for the highest rating ever for the "National Dog Show" in the 13 years NBC has tracked it in the local people meters.
· The 5.8 rating in households is up +2% versus last year's 5.7/13 and is the second-highest rating for the "National Dog Show" in 11 years (trailing the 6.0/14 of 2013, but otherwise the event's high since a 6.3/14 in 2004).
