At 10pm, the season 2 premiere of American Crime skyrocketed over its finale out of the Scandal closer last season by 38% among Adults 18-49 (1.8 rating vs. 1.3 rating) to outdeliver its final 7 L+3 telecasts of season 1 and match its highest-rated L+3 telecast since its second episode of last season (since 3/12/15). American Crime jumped +50% over its L+SD rating after 3 days of TV playback, tying the show's largest-ever playback increase.
The Middle spiked over its last original by 13% among Adults (2.7 rating vs. 2.4 rating) to match a best-since-premiere number (since 9/23/15) and increased its lead over CBS' 2 Broke Girls in the 8pm half-hour to 5-tenths of a rating point in the L+3 numbers (2.7 vs. 2.2) versus a 4-tenths lead in L+SD.
The Goldbergs grew over its most-recent original by 7% among Adults 18-49 in the L+3 numbers (2.9 rating vs. 2.7 rating) and widened its advantage over CBS' season premiere of Mike & Molly in the 8:30pm half-hour to 7-tenths of a rating point (2.9 vs. 2.2) versus a 5-tenths lead in L+SD.
Modern Family emerged as Wednesday's #1 TV show with Adults 18-49 after 3 days of TV playback (4.2 rating), moving ahead of Fox's final season premiere of American Idol to lead by 7-tenths of a rating point (3.5 rating) after trailing by 2-tenths in L+SD. Modern Family improved over its most-recent original by 11% in L+3 (4.2 vs. 3.8).
black-ish soared over its last original by 20% among Adults 18-49 in the L+3 numbers (3.0 rating vs. 2.5 rating) to its highest-rating since its season premiere 15 weeks ago (since 9/23/15) and grew over its year-ago telecast by 7%.
