Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Shares Demo Crown with ABC

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/19/16):

CBS (6.339 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1) was the most-watched network on Thursday with its mix of a repeat "The Big Bang Theory" (8.445 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), followed by a new "The Odd Couple" (7.170 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4), the season finale of "Mom" (7.997 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), a second "The Odd Couple" (6.059 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #5) and "Rush Hour" (4.181 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7).

ABC (5.418 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T1) then shared in the demo honors with the season finale of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.122 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1), a new "The Catch" (4.129 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T7) and the season finale of "The Catch" (4.003 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9).

Next up was NBC (4.182 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) with a new "STRONG" (2.507 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13) alongside the season finale of "The Blacklist" (6.709 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6) and an original "Game of Silence" (3.330 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.091 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up fresh installments of "Bones" (4.189 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9) and "American Grit" (1.994 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13).

And finally, the season finales of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.871 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T11) and "The 100" (1.311 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.5, #15) on The CW (1.591 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) closed out the night.

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.2/6; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 1.7/4; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/5.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (5/21/15):

CBS (5.732 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday despite an all-repeat lineup of "The Big Bang Theory" (8.003 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1), "The Odd Couple" (6.397 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2), "Mom" (5.899 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3), "Mike & Molly" (5.084 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6) and "Elementary" (4.505 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10).

FOX (3.821 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2) then was a close second with an encore of "Wayward Pines" (3.059 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) followed by a new "Wayward Pines" (4.582 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3).

Next up was ABC (3.884 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with new episodes of "500 Questions" (4.719 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6), another "500 Questions" (4.457 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #5) and an encore of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (2.475 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T10).

Meanwhile, NBC (3.194 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up its coverage of "Red Nose Day" (3.194 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

And finally, encores of "iZombie" (0.805 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) and "The Vampire Diaries" (0.572 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T12) on The CW (0.688 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.3 rating at 8:00/7:00c and the latter a 0.4 rating at 9:00/8:00c.
