NBA Finals Heads to Historic Game 7 on ABC After Game 6 Delivers Big 14.1 Overnight Rating

Last night's NBA Finals Game 6 - the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors (115-101)-- on ABC averaged a 14.1 overnight rating, according to Nielsen. The telecast peaked at a 16.7 metered market rating from 11:30 p.m. - 11:45 p.m. ET.

The NBA Finals is expected to win the night across all of television for the 54th consecutive time.

The Cleveland market averaged a 44.3 metered market rating and the San Francisco market averaged a 34.9 metered market rating.

Thursday's NBA Finals Game 6 was the most-watched NBA game ever on WatchESPN across metrics. It generated a record 1.3 million unique viewers, an average minute audience of 391,800 viewers and approximately 68.6 million total minutes streamed.

The historic Game 7 on ABC -the fourth time the network will broadcast an NBA Finals Game 7-- will be on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at 8 p.m. ET (coverage starting at 7:30 p.m.). The Cavaliers will look to make history as the first team to come back from 3-1 deficit in the Finals and the Warriors shoot to cap a record 73 win regular season with an NBA Championship. The 2016 NBA Finals is the second-most watched ever on ABC through six games, averaging 18,515,000 viewers (p2+), according to Nielsen.

Last night's Game 6 - the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors to even the series 3-3 - generated 20,702,000 average viewers, peaking with 25,254,000 viewers from 11:30-11:45 p.m. ET.

NBA Finals Game 6 on ABC won the night across all of television for the 54th consecutive time.

NBA Finals Game 7 coverage on ABC

The 2016 NBA Finals will continue with the winner-take-all Game 7, this Sunday, June 19, at 8 p.m. ET (coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m.). The defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors and unanimous Kia M.V.P. Steph Curry will host the Cleveland Cavaliers and two-time NBA Champion LeBron James.

The longest-tenured NBA Finals broadcast team - Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, Mark Jackson and Doris Burke - will provide commentary. NBA Countdown precedes the game on ABC at 7:30 p.m. with Sage Steele, Doug Collins, Jalen Rose and guest analyst Paul Pierce. This marks the fourth NBA Finals Game 7 on ABC.

NBA Finals Game 7 is also available on ESPN Radio (Kevin Calabro, Hubie Brown, Marc Stein), ESPN Deportes and WatchESPN. SportsCenter will air live on ESPN from 6-7:30 p.m., leading into ABC's NBA Finals coverage.
