"48 HOURS: THE MORTICIAN, THE MURDER, THE MOVIE" IS SATURDAY'S #1 NON-SPORTS PRIMETIME PROGRAM WITH VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54
48 HOURS: "The Mortician, The Murder, The Movie" was Saturday's #1 non-sports primetime broadcast in viewers and adults 25-54, and posted week-to-week audience gains, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Oct. 1.
48 HOURS delivered 4.88 million viewers and a 1.2/04 with adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news. 48 HOURS added +50,000 viewers from the previous week's season premiere. 48 HOURS was up +9% in adults 25-54 and +7% in viewers compared to the same night last year.
Saturday's broadcast featured Peter Van Sant and 48 HOURS' investigation into the death of a Texas widow and the murder case against her companion, Bernie Tiede, a mortician 40 years her junior. It was a story so bizarre it was turned into a theatrical film starring Jack Black. But the 2011 film only touched on part of the story, as Van Sant and 48 HOURS reported. Tiede was back in court recently, and 48 HOURS was there for the latest twist.
48 HOURS: "The Mortician, The Murder, The Movie" is produced by Jamie Stolz and Marc Goldbaum. Claire St. Amant is the field producer. Stephanie Slifer is the associate producer. Ken Blum, Doreen Schechter, Grayce Arlotta-Berner, Marlon Disla, Marcus Balsam and Richard Barber are the editors. Anthony Batson is the senior broadcast producer. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
