Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Vice Presidential Debate Coverage

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/4/16):

NBC (6.822 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) was the demo champ on Tuesday with its mix of a recap episode from "The Voice" (7.805 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1), "The Vice Presidential Debate" (6.692 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) and "The Vice Presidential Debate - Analysis" (5.246 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T4).

CBS (8.726 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was the silver draw with its combination of "NCIS" (13.900 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3), "The Vice Presidential Debate" (6.491 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) and "The Vice Presidential Debate - Analysis" (5.087 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12).

Next up was ABC (6.713 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and its lineup of "Dancing with the Stars" (8.837 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T4), "The Vice Presidential Debate" (5.991 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7) and "The Vice Presidential Debate - Analysis" (4.630 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #11).

Meanwhile, The CW (2.358 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) served up the return of "The Flash" (3.125 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6) and the launch of "No Tomorrow" (1.592 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #14).

And finally, new episodes of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (2.462 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) and "New Girl" (2.153 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) alongside "The Vice Presidential Debate" (2.196 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13) on FOX (2.241 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.3/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

CBS (13.393 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T1) was the most-watched network on Tuesday with its trio of "NCIS" (16.571 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2), "NCIS: New Orleans" (13.969 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T4) and "Limitless" (9.640 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T4).

NBC (7.378 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T1) then shared in the demo honors with a best of edition from "The Voice" (8.738 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) and a new "Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris" (4.659 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #9).

Next up was ABC (4.097 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) with its lineup of "The Muppets" (4.845 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T6), "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.865 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (4.281 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T6) and a repeat "Quantico" (3.155 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #13).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.169 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4) served up week two of "Grandfathered" (3.759 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T10) and "The Grinder" (3.101 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #12) plus a new "Scream Queens" (2.907 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T10).

And finally, the return of "The Flash" (3.423 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #8) and "iZombie" (1.704 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14) on The CW (2.563 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4) closed out the evening.
