Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: "Empire" Keeps FOX on Top in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/12/16):

FOX (7.995 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.6, #1) was still the top draw on Wednesday with new episodes of "Lethal Weapon" (6.695 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.9, #4) and "Empire" (9.296 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1).

ABC (6.623 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then was the number two network with its mix of "The Goldbergs" (6.398 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T5), "Speechless" (5.994 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T5), "Modern Family" (7.454 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2), "Black-ish" (5.881 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T5) and "Designated Survivor" (7.006 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #9).

Next up was CBS (7.786 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) and its trio of "Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X" (9.014 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3), "Criminal Minds" (8.362 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #8) and "Code Black" (5.983 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T12).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.758 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4) offered up originals from "Blindspot" (5.428 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T12), "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.707 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T10) and "Chicago PD" (6.139 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T10).

And finally, week two of "Arrow" (1.951 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14) and "Frequency" (1.115 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15) on The CW (1.533 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/4.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.4/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.9/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

FOX (8.591 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1) was of course the network to beat on Wednesday with new episodes of "Rosewood" (5.013 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.4, #10) and "Empire" (12.168 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.6, #1).

The silver then went to ABC (6.016 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and its lineup of "The Middle" (7.060 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.9, #5), "The Goldbergs" (6.377 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 2.0, #4), "Modern Family" (7.815 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.6, #2), "Black-ish" (5.713 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.8, #6) and "Nashville" (4.566 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T11).
