Giants-Eagles Ties as the Season's #2 "Thursday Night Football" Telecast in Metered-Market Households
NBC spins the numbers for Thursday, December 22.

The "Thursday Night Football" game featuring the New York Giants at the Philadelphia Eagles, carried on NBC and the NFL Network, averaged a combined 12.5 rating, 22 share in households from 8:30-11:45 p.m. ET in the 56 markets metered by Nielsen Media Research (not including digital data), easily winning the night in both metered-market households and adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with Local People Meters.

The 12.5 ties for the #2 "Thursday Night Football" overnight of 2016 (matching the Texans-Patriots game of Sept. 22) and trailing only the #1 Cowboys-Vikings matchup (14.1 on NBC and the NFL Network, Dec. 1).

Regarding this morning's Nielsens, note that the fast-affiliate ratings that came in at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT are not time zone-adjusted and are subject to upward revision for live sports coverage, nor do they include NFL Network viewers that will be counted in NBC averages for the "Thursday Night Football" game in official-national ratings.

In these preliminary results, NBC ranks #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, dominating in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures in the fast-affiliate ratings, even prior to time-zone adjustment and the addition of NFL Network viewers.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Thursday Night:

NBC's "Tonight Show" and "Late Night" delivered their highest Thursday 18-49 ratings in the local people meters so far for the five Thursdays since the network launched its "Thursday Night Football" primetime NFL package, with a 1.4 for "Tonight" and a 0.7 for "Late Night." "Tonight" also hit a household high for those five Thursdays (3.1), while "Late Night" (1.4) and "Last Call" (0.9) tied their highs.

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," a 3.1 rating, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 1.8/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.4, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," a 1.4 rating in metered-market households, delayed by an NFL overrun; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.9/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.7 in 18-49, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1 with an encore

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly," with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun, averaged a 0.9 rating in metered-market households and a 0.4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
