Friday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Wins Tight Demo Race

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (8/11/17):

[EDITOR'S NOTE: Some high rated local pre-season NFL games on NBC are included here but will be excluded from Officials.]

NBC (3.934 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1) edged out the demo crown on Friday with its repeats of "America's Got Talent" (4.057 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T1) and "Dateline NBC" (3.689 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T1).

CBS (4.560 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) was a close second with repeats of "MacGyver" (4.841 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (5.203 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3) plus the "CBS News Special: Son of Sam - The Killer Speaks" (3.635 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3).

Next up was ABC (3.464 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) with its mix of "Shark Tank" (3.448 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3), "Primetime: What Would You Do?" (3.136 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #8) and "20/20" (3.809 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T3).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.602 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) served up encores of "MasterChef" (1.615 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) and "Beat Shazam" (1.590 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9).

And finally, a new "Masters of Illusion" (1.008 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) followed by repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (0.883 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.989 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) rounded out the evening for The CW (0.967 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.0/5; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.2/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.4/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/3; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline," averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.7/3 with an encore delayed by a PGA Golf report. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.1/1 with an encore delayed by a PGA Golf report.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (8/12/16):

NBC (23.904 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 6.3, #1) continued its reign on Friday with its coverage of the "Olympic Games Rio 2016" (23.904 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 6.3, #1).

ABC (4.032 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) then was the distant number two draw with its mix of "Shark Tank" (4.055 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2), "Primetime: What Would You Do?" (3.680 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2) and "20/20" (4.360 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T2).

Next up was CBS (4.499 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #3) and its repeat lineup of "NCIS: Los Angeles" (4.573 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T5), "Hawaii Five-0" (4.441 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T5) and "Blue Bloods" (4.484 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #7).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.828 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up a special edition of "MLB on FOX" (1.828 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #8).

And finally, repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (0.996 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T9), another "Masters of Illusion" (0.958 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T9) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.025 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T9) on The CW (1.001 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.
