Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS, "Thursday Night Football" Stay on Top

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/5/17):

CBS (10.371 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1) was still the top draw on Thursday with its coverage of the "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (8.305 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2) and "Thursday Night Football" (10.784 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.2, #1).

Second place then went to ABC (5.781 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) with a new "Grey's Anatomy" (7.896 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T3), the return of "Scandal" (5.546 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #5) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (3.903 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

Next up was NBC (5.257 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) and its lineup of "Superstore" (4.454 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "The Good Place" (4.155 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "Will & Grace" (7.042 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.0, #T3), "Good News" (3.799 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9) and "Chicago Fire" (6.046 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.139 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) served up fresh installments of "Gotham" (2.839 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10) and "The Orville" (3.440 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10).

And finally, repeats of "Supernatural" (0.761 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) and "Arrow" (0.620 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) on The CW (0.690 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 ratings were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.6/4; "Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/4.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," delayed by an NFL overrun.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

CBS (7.996 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) was the network to beat on Thursday with its coverage of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (7.727 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #3) and "Thursday Night Football" (8.050 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1).

ABC (5.882 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then was the silver with its trio of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.305 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2), "Notorious" (4.595 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (4.747 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5).

Next up was NBC (6.124 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) and its lineup of "Superstore" (5.198 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5), "The Good Place" (4.979 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4), "Chicago Med" (6.899 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5) and "The Blacklist" (6.386 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #8).
