DISCOVERY CHANNEL RINGS IN 2018 AS CABLE'S #1 NETWORK AMONG MEN 25-54 (EXCL. SPORTS)
(Los Angeles) - Discovery Channel closed out 2017 as cable's #1 network among M25-54 (excl. sports) for the 3rd straight year and owned more top 10 unscripted cable series than any other network among men. The network also finished the year owning cable's #1 and #2 unscripted series across four nights of the week among M25-54 and M18-49 and dominated 9 of the top 10 unscripted cable series in M25-54 (#1 GOLD RUSH, #2 STREET OUTLAWS, #4 FAST N' LOUD, #5 DEADLIEST CATCH, #6 DIESEL BROTHERS, #7 ALASKAN BUSH PEOPLE, #8 NAKED AND AFRAID XL, #9 MOONSHINERS and #10 GOLD RUSH: PARKER'S TRAIL). Discovery's hit motor series STREET OUTLAWS finished the year as the #1 unscripted cable series in M18-34.
In 2017, the network struck ratings gold with top-rated series GOLD RUSH and GOLD RUSH: PARKER'S TRAIL. GOLD RUSH was cable's #1 unscripted series in M25-54 for the 4th straight year and in M18-49 and P2+ for the 3rd straight year. The hit series also ranked as the #1 show on all of television - including broadcast and scripted - on Friday nights across all key men (25-54/18-49/18-34). GOLD RUSH: PARKER'S TRAIL ended the year as the #1 new unscripted cable series in M25-54.
Discovery owned several of cable's top unscripted series throughout the week during 2017 - on Mondays, STREET OUTLAWS ranked #1 across M25-54, M18-49, and M18-34, while FAST N' LOUD and DIESEL BROTHERS were #2 and #3, respectively, among M25-54 & M18-49. On Wednesdays, ALASKAN BUSH PEOPLE was #1, BERING SEA GOLD was #2, and GARAGE REHAB was #3 among M25-54 and M18-49; BUSH was also #1 in M18-34. On Fridays GOLD RUSH was #1, GOLD RUSH: PARKER'S TRAIL was #2, and FINDING ESCOBAR'S MILLIONS was #3 including scripted among M25-54 & M18-49. On Sundays, Naked and Afraid XL was #1 and Naked and Afraid was #2 in M25-54 & M18-49.
