Friday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Edges Tight Demo Race with CBS

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/19/18):

FOX (4.010 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1) edged out another demo victory on Friday thanks to new episodes of "Last Man Standing" (6.201 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1), "The Cool Kids" (4.575 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) and "Hell's Kitchen" (2.632 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T5).

CBS (7.256 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then was a close second with its trio of "MacGyver" (6.094 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T5), "Hawaii Five-0" (7.331 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (8.343 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3).

Next up was NBC (3.357 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) with fresh installments from "Blindspot" (2.546 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and "Dateline NBC" (3.762 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.505 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up originals from "Fresh Off the Boat" (3.022 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T7), "Speechless" (2.427 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9), "Child Support" (1.939 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and "20/20" (2.852 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9).

And finally, new episodes from "Dynasty" (0.653 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #13) and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (0.420 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.1, #14) rounded out the evening on The CW (0.536 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.4/2 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5.3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/1 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (10/20/17):

CBS (8.065 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1) was still the network to beat on Friday with its drama trio of "MacGyver" (6.812 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.531 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) and "Blue Bloods" (8.853 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2).

Second place then went to NBC (3.583 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T2) with an encore of "Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders" (2.327 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T8) and a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (4.212 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5).
