NBC Captures 18-49 Crown for 10th Consecutive Year

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Sept. 28, 2021 - For the first time in 20 years, NBC will win Premiere Week (Sept 20-26) in total viewers for entertainment shows only, in addition to also capturing the 18-49 demo race for the 10th consecutive year.
NBC leads in total viewers by 49% and in 18-49 the difference was 57%. Excluding 1988 due to the Winter Olympics, both figures are the largest difference between first and second place networks for Premiere Week in measurement history.
"This is an incredible coup, particularly on the heels of NBC's recent victory in the 52-week season, and we are excited to continue this momentum as we look toward holiday programming, midseason and beyond," said Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks and Susan Rovner, Chairman, Entertainment Content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. "With these accolades coming almost exactly a year after the company's restructure, these wins are a testament to the hard work, commitment and ingenuity of the entire entertainment team as well as all of our creative partners."
The network was led by the "Sunday Night Football" game between Green Bay and San Francisco, which drew a hefty 5.6 in 18-49 and 19.7 million total viewers.
In scripted programming, NBC had the top four dramas of the week in 18-49 - "Chicago Fire," "Chicago P.D.," "Chicago Med" and "Law & Order: SVU." In fact, "SVU" saw significant growth from last year's premiere with an increase of 32% in the demo and 84% in total viewers. NBC's new Monday night drama entry "Ordinary Joe" has already seen impressive delayed and digital viewing following its Sept. 20, nearly tripling in 18-49 and seeing a 157% increase in total viewers.
On the unscripted side, "The Voice" season 21 premiere was strong Monday and Tuesday, ranking as the #1 entertainment program on each night. Within the first week, the Sept. 20 telecast of "The Voice" hit an all-time high across digital platforms.
