DESCRIPTION: (from HBO's web site, July 2024) In 1989, Major League Baseball legend Pete Rose was handed a lifetime ban from the sport for betting on games. Charlie Hustle & the Matter of Pete Rose is a retrospective journey of the life and career of baseball’s all-time hits leader and one of the most polarizing figures in sports. Drawing on interviews and colorful insights from Rose himself, the documentary series paints a portrait of a complex individual full of contradictions — one seeking redemption but not quite ready for full atonement. HBO Sports Documentaries presents Charlie Hustle & the Matter of Pete Rose, a Bad Robot/Zipper Bros Films Production in association with Greg & Jeff Productions, Diamond Docs, and Sutter Road Picture Company. Director and executive producer, Mark Monroe; executive producers, J.J. Abrams, Sean Stuart, Glen Zipper, Rachel Rusch Rich, Greg Grunberg, and Jeffrey Lenkov; producer, Maren Domzalski. For HBO: executive producers, Nancy Abraham, Lisa Heller, and Bentley Weiner; coordinating producer, Abtin Motia. |
