BBC AMERICA'S DOCTOR WHO RETURNS SATURDAY WITH LET'S KILL HITLER
The Doctor's time travelling police box, the TARDIS, crash lands in 1930s Berlin when Doctor Who returns August 27 on BBC AMERICA with new episode "Let's Kill Hitler."From award winning lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat (Sherlock, The Adventures of Tintin), Part One of the new season, which premiered in April, delivered record ratings for BBC AMERICA and marked the first time Doctor Who filmed on American soil. The midseason finale, "A Good Man Goes to War,"ended on a cliffhanger with only the words "Let's Kill Hitler"on screen. Doctor Who premieres Saturday, August 27, 9:00pm ET/PT on Supernatural Saturday.
The series follows the adventures of the Doctor, the mysterious traveler who journeys throughout all of time and space, picking up companions along the way. BAFTA nominee Matt Smith (the Doctor), Karen Gillan (Amy Pond), Arthur Darvill (Rory) and Alex Kingston (River Song) are back with the Doctor, now facing his date with death.
In the midseason finale, Amy Pond was kidnapped and the Doctor called in his long-held debts and solemnly given promises to raise an army to rescue her. This marked the Doctor's darkest hour. While the Doctor and Rory were able to save Amy, his enemies' carefully concealed trap allowed Madame Kovarian (Frances Barber) to escape with Amy's newborn daughter Melody Pond. At that moment, the time travelling professor River Song arrived and finally revealed her most closely guarded secret - she is Melody, Amy and Rory's daughter. But can time be rewritten?
In "Let's Kill Hitler,"the desperate search for Melody Pond begins with The TARDIS crash landing in 1930s Berlin, bringing the Doctor face to face with the greatest war criminal in the Universe - and Hitler. The Doctor must teach his adversaries that time travel has responsibilities - and in so doing, learns a harsh lesson in the cruelest warfare of all.
Steven Moffat has written two of the upcoming six episodes along with award-winning writers Toby Whithouse (Being Human creator, Torchwood), Mark Gatiss (Sherlock), Tom MacRae (Doctor Who) and Gareth Roberts (Doctor Who). Guest stars include David Walliams (Come Fly With Me, Little Britain) in Whithouse's "The God Complex,"Daniel Mays (Outcasts, The Bank Job) and Emma Cunniffe in Gatiss' "Night Terrors"and James Corden (Gavin & Stacey) in Roberts' "Closing Time."Piers Wenger (Upstairs Downstairs) and Beth Willis (Ashes to Ashes) are executive producers on the series.
A new trailer and footage of the upcoming episodes were shown during the Doctor Who panel in front of nearly 7, 000 cheering fans at Comic-Con in San Diego. Part One of the new season, which includes the two-parter set in the U.S. and Neil Gaiman's episode "The Doctor's Wife,"is available now on Blu-ray, DVD, iTunes, Xbox Live, Sony PSN and Amazon VOD.
