By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

BUNKER HILL (TNT) - Scott Tony Curran ("Miami Vice") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, which stars Donnie Wahlberg as Mike Moriarty, a cop who returns to Boston to protect the streets he grew up on. He'll play Joe, a homicide detective with the Boston police. Bridget Moynahan also stars in the hour, which comes from Warner Horizon Television. Jon Avnet is directing from a script by Walon Green.

CARNEY (Sci Fi) - Lou Diamond Phillips is set to topline the original movie, about a small-town sheriff who goes up against a revengeful beast that escapes from a visiting carnival sideshow. Muse Entertainment and Brava Pictures are behind the project, which is set to film in Ottawa. Muse's Michael Prupas and RHI Entertainment's Robert Halmi Sr. and Robert Halmi Jr. are the executive producers.

ER (NBC) - Former cast member Eriq La Salle is set to helm an upcoming episode of the show's final season. Details on his installment, set to air in February, however were not given.

HEROES (NBC) - Justin Baldoni ("Everwood") has scored a role on the upcoming fourth "volume" of the series. He'll play Alex, a Southern California surfer dude who works at a comic book store, in at least two episodes. No other specifics were released.

KING OF THE HILL (FOX) - ABC is understood to be in talks with 20th Century Fox Television to order eight scripts of the departing FOX series. The news comes on the heels of rumblings earlier this week that the network was eyeing a 14th edition of the animated veteran. Separately, Cartoon Network's Adult Swim has snagged the show's off-network rights. The channel will take over the exclusive cable rights from FX starting in January, where it's expected to air in the recently added 10:00/9:00c hour of the block.

THE LINE (A.K.A. UNTITLED DOUG JUNG PROJECT) (TNT) - Logan Marshall-Green ("Traveler"), Omari Hardwick ("The Guardian") and Nicki Aycox ("Supernatural") have all been cast in the drama pilot, a police drama that revolves around a squad of undercover LAPD officers as they walk the line between doing their job and being seduced by easy money. As for specifics, Marshall-Green will play Dean, a rebellious rookie, with Hardwick as Ty, an undercover cop with complex criminal aliases who is a model suburban husband on the outside, and Aycox as Jaimie, an LAPD officer who's eager to get out of uniform and transfer to a more challenging unit than street patrol. Doug Jung is behind the Warner Horizon Television/Jerry Bruckheimer Television-based hour, with Danny Cannon directing.

SINGLE WITH PARENTS (ABC) - The Alphabet and sibling ABC Studios have pulled the plug on the Alyssa Milano-led midseason comedy, following a behind-the-scenes tussle over the show's creative direction. The project starred Milano as a thirtysomething woman who was trying to juggle her life while dealing with her dysfunctional parents (Annie Potts, Beau Bridges). Kristin Newman, Matthew Carlson and DreamWorks Television's Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank were the executive producers.
